anybody heard anything more? all i got is what's on Yahoo!:
Fri, Dec 9
RW Marty St. Louis suffered fractures around his left eye after he took a puck off his face during Thursday's morning skate. St. Louis suffered fractures to his orbital and sinus areas. A timetable for his return will not be known until he came be evaluated after the swelling goes down in the area. It's a good bet, however, that he won't be back any time soon.

St. Louis (facial and nasal fractures) did not return to Tampa on Friday and instead spent the day at his home in Connecticut, reports Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times.
Recommendation: We'd avoid traveling in a pressurized airplane cabin, too, if we had nasal fractures. He is slated to travel Saturday but the team has announced that even his travel status is day-to-day.

did some quick reading on facial/nasal fracture recovery times. the best answer I got was specifically in relation to returning to physical, high tempo sports where a face-mask can be worn to help protect against further injury.
Said any minor 'surgery' can be done within 3-10 days on the injury and 'recovery time' is in and around ~3weeks
My mom's also a nurse so I proposed, simply: if a hockey player sustained nasal and facial fractures, would they be closer to returning in 2 weeks or 2 months.
She very quickly said more likely around the 2 week mark so ... I think ~3 weeks is a fairly good estimate.
Wow good work. That's very helpful.

Anyone know if this means more playing time on a top line for Downie? Wondering if he's be a decent pickup for a few weeks.

At least in the most recent game, Downie didn't see increased ice time. Malone. on the other hand, did.

Hmm, that stinks. Downie just got dropped so I was wondering but I know Malone's not available in my league. I've been looking for a replacement for Gagne.

St. Louis (facial and nasal fractures) has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to December 9, according to a report by Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times.
Recommendation: With the fractures suffered he may be out weeks, but knowing St. Louis, he will be back out there sooner than anyone would imagine. The move to IR makes sense with Brett Connolly also being released to play in the World Juniors.

St. Louis (face) returned to practice Tuesday, The Tampa Tribune reports.
Recommendation: The facial injury, which was cause by a puck to the left-eye, kept St. Louis out for the past two weeks. St. Louis traveled with the team to San Jose, where they will play Wednesday.
Does "they" include St Louis? :P

It doesn't make sense for him to take the trip if they don't figure that he might play. Also an injury like that would not feel good with pressure changes in a plane if he wasn't fully healed. So my 100% completely uneducated guess is that he will play haha
