I pray this isn't a concussion... it sounds like he may be alright, and I really hope for his sake he is.

It looked pretty bad, flying knee to the head. He's not on my team, and I don't like the Flyers, but still got my fingers crossed, hope he's okay.

That article made it sound like he will be fine. You never really know, though. Definitely hope he's ok. He's been playing awesome too.

He is not traveling with the team, so that means he'll miss tomorrow's game against Washington.

I was just reading the article about his status on NHL.com "Giroux did not practice Monday with the team, as rookie Sean Couturier skated in his regular top-line spot between Jaromir Jagr and Scott Hartnell. Danny Briere also took shifts in that spot late in Saturday's game, but it was Couturier who earned praise from coach Peter Laviolette following the win against the Lightning, the Flyers' fifth straight." source (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=606007)

Might not be a bad idea to pick up Couturier for a spot start if you have room on your roster.

Giroux has a concussion and is out indefinitely. Very bad new for the Flyers. NHL points leader could be out for a while. via @BroadStBull (https://twitter.com/#!/BroadStBull/status/146630943094996992)

Ouch! That sucks. How long before he is on IR?

Patrick

The Flyers did not put him on IR today. There's no more information than that.

Wow, that does suck. Was having a breakout season too.

He's such a clutch player. I just hope he doesn't pull a Crosby and misses the playoffs. I don't doubt they'll make it without him but they won't get very far once there riding Briere's playoff prowess alone.

Anyone know if they're going to put him on IR? I have Zajac coming back tomorrow and if Giroux is on IR I could just switch the two, otherwise I need to start thinking of who to drop.

First , I hope G is ok. I'll worry about my Fantasy Team later.

Of course I hope he's ok too. I'm not even a Flyers fan, yet I find myself watching them whenever they're on tv because Giroux is just magic with the puck.

Cool , I haven't heard anything about putting him on IR . Flyers wait till last minute to put players on IR. It took forever for Pronger to go on.

Rotoworld reported that Giroux was back on the ice wearing a no contact jersey.

Sounds like good news to me!:D

Yahoo has him IR eligible now at least. The fact that he is practicing is a good sign.

I hear G should be back after Christmas. Is that soon after or April?

A Yahoo note mentioned he's expected to be back Wednesday. I certainly hope so as I need him now.

From both a hockey and fantasy hockey perspective, I hope they sit him through the end of next week.

Looks like he could be back tonight, csn philly stated

"while it's not 100 percent certain, all signs point to the Flyers' concussed center returning to the lineup Wednesday night." The center believes if he participates in pre-game warm-ups, that he will play. Giroux's teammates believe he will play and the center took some hits in practice Tuesday."

I'm kinda on your side mike. Always best to play it safe, we don't need another crosby on our hands.

Officially he is a game time decision. He told Tim Panaccio yesterday that if he is in the warm-up, then he'll play.

Wow. I hope all you owners had him active tonight, I know I did! I actually never put him on IR, Mainly bc I was saving a few position games. Great comeback by Giroux and as a fan of his I'm really glad to see him back.

He was awesome tonight, aside from one weak back check on the first goal against.

Stupid yahoo won't let you play a guy the same day you take him off IR. Oh well, good to see him back in full force anyway.

Yea I wish they didn't do that. I can't help but remember when Crosby came back he had a 4 point night as well. For Giroux's sake, for the game, for the Flyers (and for my Hartnell/Jagr duo) I hope he's ok the rest of the season.

I think you can do this provided you don't have to drop a player to make the adjustment.

Yeah, you're actually right but I always pick someone up when I put a guy on IR, especially when the time frame is "indefinitely." I'm not sure what the point of putting him on IR would be otherwise.

I had Crosby off the IR slot well before he hit the ice for his first game. Got whammied with Giroux on my other team this time around though.

Stupid yahoo will permit this if you have a league that does same day changes-- One of my three leagues has same day roster changes. Its great for a last minute pickup or when an IR guy is announced to be playing. Only practical problem is that I often have time to look at my roster in the evening but on a busy night I can't make moves of anyone that played unless I wait until after midnight yahoo time

I haven't tried but I think you might be able to move a roster player to IR and an IR to roster the same day (as that would be treated as a positional change only) but as others have pointed out, in most leagues, a drop takes effect 'tomorrow"
