I have been wondering about a few things and just thought I would throw it out there to see what everyone else is thinking:

Ovie and the entire Wash team - what's going on with them? Can he break out of it? Under Hunter? I have a guy looking to get Stamkos from me, and the only way I will budge is if Ovi is in the mix - but before that even comes close to happening I need to be confident that he is going to be able to come back.

Carter - I know he has been injured (twice) but what is going on in CLB - is this a team in serious trouble or are they just working out some minor issues.

LA (Doughty) - again I know he was injured, and came late from the holdout ( I hate when they do that), but this team has not been living up to expectations at all....Will a new coach really be able to get them going - Sutter at that - is he really the saviour in LA? Can Kopitar get going again???? How far away is richards from returning.

ANA - Bruce B. he has had them for a few weeks now - I do not get to watch them very often (at all) are they turning it around? Will Getzlaf get going again - and his line mate Perry - where has he been?

That's it for now - just throwing this out there - let me know what you think? or not....no big deal....

For the Washington thing, it is anybody's guess. In a way I am hoping Green comes back. I really think he is the anchor for that offense. I hope they can turn it around, I have my hopes on Backstrom and Ovie finishing the season strong. That team is just too good not to be at the top of the league.

Carter is a shooter and so is Nash. They both need guys who can draw the defense and make the passes to them. Columbus doesn't have that. Outside of Nash / Carter there is very little depth on that team. Carter is really only good for shots and the occasional goal at this point IMO.

Doughty - classic case of big contract - no effort syndrome (or he just has bad luck). I haven't seen him play at all this year, but another guy too good to be putting up the numbers he is.

I am going through this frustration with Bobby Ryan. This guy is putting up shots, but nothing in the net. I don't know if other teams have figured them out or if it is taking longer for the big 4 to get going. The injury to Visnovsky could have hampered that as well.

The summary to all of these problems is these star players need to wake up. They have have exceptional talent, they have shown it consistently in the past, but for whatever reason it is the no-namers coming up big and big-namers coming up small. This year is like the twilight zone. Leafs / panthers players near the top of the scoring race and Ovie hardly able to crack the top 50.

Of course this is all just my opinion. My team should be doing way better, but Sharp is the only guy producing.

I've been thinking about trying to make a deal to get Ovi since he's not exactly having a great year. If he is going to turn it around in the second half, then now might be the time to try and get him. Just me thinking aloud.

I'll join...

I drafted Vokoun 12th overall, what a buster that was. This may not be true but I watched the Wings when Fedorov was supposed to be the end all be all and Ovie reminds me of him. I just don't think that team gels. No chemistry. I don't follow Washington closely enough for this to be valid but with Ovie he reminds me of Bonds with the Giants and Sosa with the Cubs..different sport I know but just an opinion.

I think Carter/Nash and Columbus will have a good 2nd 1/2, OK not good but better than the 1st half. Carter has started to show something. Their D has been under performing and Umberger too.

Doughty I agree with Rocketman9, new deal+holdout=Bust. Happens every year in every sport.

As for the Quack Attack. Amazing Getz, Perry and Ryan haven't done anything. I haven't seen nor read anything on them to base an opinion but with that talent one would think they should improve in the 2nd half.

Getzlaf actually has been much better lately. He can definitely play better, but he's not doing that terrible now.

I have vokoun, carter, and nash on my team. Between them and Eric Staal this has been a very rough season. Luckily I was able to pick up Neuvirth right before his past couple games.

They have 3 Russian superstars, players who's bread and butter is putting the puck in the net. They brought in Vokoun who is used to getting 35+ shots a night. Not only is he used to it he's better when he sees more rubber. They have Green, who is arguably the best offensive D in the game (when he's healthy).

For crying out loud let your horses loose, let Vokoun take care of the turn overs and win your bloody games even though your top line is -2 and your goalies GAA is 3.

Those guys flying on the ice in full offensive throttle will do three things, score goals, draw penalties, and produce turnovers. 2 outta 3 aint bad. Let them play for crying out loud.

They have 3 Russian superstars,.

Don Cherry would tell you that THAT is the root of the problem-- " you need some good ol' Western boys to thum 'em"

Traded him for Datsyuk and PM Bouchard or Clutterbuck

Totally agree with Nightparade. I figured that was why Vokoun was brought in, so they could unleash the fury.

Backstrom isn't Russian, he is Swedish. I agree with you on everything else.

Yeah, you're right on that one, don't I feel silly. Even worse is that I knew that and still wrote him in as a Russian.
