Hitmen 8-2-2 (72-51-9 3rd of 12)
I LOST HITS (by ONE !!!!) and PIMS but won everything else except for tying SHO and SHP----
Brawlers 7-2-4 ( 85 -44-14 2nd of 10)
My steadiest team comes back . Won goaltending 3-0-2 . Offensivly I lost Pims by a decent margin and SOG by 2 . PPP and SHP were tied and I won everything else by decent margins.
Tigers 6-7-1 (66-66-22 8th of 14)
4-0-1 on goalies as they came through early and then I sat through the rest of the week against an opponent rolling only Howard/Conklin. On Friday night I had a 7-6 lead until relatively late when he overhauled me in SOG. Despite a losing week I leapfrogged up into 8th as the previously 8th place team lost 11-2 and I remain a scant 7 points out of a playoff position. Far more optimistic a spot than I was thinking even 3 weeks back .
Upcoming - I have the last two teams I have not played . I have the 11th place team next week followed by the team currently in 5th place and ELEVEN points ahead. If SOMEHOW this bunch can do well for two weeks I could find myself back in the playoff contention
Malkins Monsters
Won 7 - 0. Nothing but good from this team lately.
Datsyuks Dekers
Lost 0 - 10. Unfortunately, nothing but bad from this team.
Lost PPP and +/- by one each. Overall, I went 4-5-1 for the week (went 3 for 4 in goalie stats). Despite losing this week, I moved up to 6th out of 12 teams which puts me in the playoff range. It's been a slow and steady climb out of 12th place and I've got three more months to push for a higher seed. My goaltending is carrying me and I'd like to tweak my team to carry one more skater category.

Won 9-4-3
Lost hits, blocks, SOG and ATOI (first time I lost that all year I think). Lost blocks by 1 stinkin' block! But I seem to never win hits or blocks, kind of sucks.
I also toyed with fire with the goaltending categories even though I dominated and won 4 of 5 (neither of us got a SO). I had Lundy and LaBarbera in play last night, he had Elliott....I wasn't at home but started crunching numbers with about 10 minutes to go in the Philly game and figured that I needed to bench LaBarbera because he essentially would have had to get a SO by Elliott to win after Lundy only gave up 2 goals. Too late though...then I had to watch in agony as I fell behind in GAA and SV%. PHX down 3-1, then they get a goal on Elliott and both reverse back to me...then I had to sweat out the final minute praying that LaBarbera would get off the ice lol and let them attack a man up so it wouldn't go against him. Final tally: I win GAA 2.182 to 2.208 and SV% .9257 to .9091 - I know the SV% seems like a lot but he only had 5 starts so actually that 2nd goal by Philly was the reason I won both GAA and SV%. Too close for comfort - not gonna make that mistake again. Usually I don't make statistical mistakes, but this time I think it had more to do with I really wasn't thinking that it was the last day (Friday) of the scoring period and since I wasn't home I wasn't totally following the Rangers game..but the time I had broken down the stats and figured all scenarios I realized I needed to get LaBarbera out and I missed it literally by 2 minutes lol
So now I'm 83-63-19 (3rd place I think) going into a show down with the #1 overall. He's well ahead in my division and this is a big week for me..I really want to win this for a number of reasons. Now I get to bring out the pain with the addition of Parise and Hossa to my already potent offensive lineup :)
I literally have been scoring at a ridiculous rate lately - I moved all the way from 8th to 2nd in both goals and assists. In only 5 days this week I had 19 goals and 24 assists. This matchup though will most likely come down to the goalie stats. He plays quantity over quality and tries to mash you with wins and saves..its actually good strategy as if he can guarantee two categories well that's pretty good. Doesn't hurt that he also has Rinne and Niemi and he picked up Emery and Reimer. But he will drop one of them to try to win the goalie categories..honestly from an offensive standpoint I should be in good shape, like I said I'm bringing a lot of firepower to the table. I just need to make sure I win categories like ATOI, SOG, PPPs...I think I can get goals and assists. I need to win 6 or 7 of the skating categories really is my approach here.

My goalies fell off the face of the earth this week, lost 3-0-1 (tied with 0 SO). My skaters picked up the slak and I lost 5-4-2. I got the boot from 1st place, currently in 3rd 1 point behind 1st and one point ahead of 4th. This cluster at the top is fighint tooth and nail, we have to watch it because some of the middle of the pack teams posted big numbers this week.

Sadly, this has been the story of the season for one of my teams. Hiller and Ward. Ugh. Before the season I thought goalies would be my strong postion. Turns out they are my weakest postion.

I can understand thinking a lot of Ward-- I had always considered him an elite guy on a so-so team--
Hiller-- I just never believed in him-- He could rebound but I avoided him

My goalie problems are related to time shares honestly. I can't even say Halak is the starter in STL because he's NOT. That has hurt, because he's playing pretty well but I am lucky to get 1 start out of him per week.
Lundy is amazing, but it seems like every "easy" matchup the Rangers get they put in Biron and then play Lundy the other 2 games...which is fine, but I feel like the guy could have a few more shutouts if he got to play the scrub teams (not to mention wins).
Khabby has been really good for the peripheral stats, but he is also sharing time with Dubnyk. And I had Brodeur and just couldn't deal with it anymore, the guy blew the goalie categories for me way too many times. I just picked up Neuvy, so we'll see...not sure if he's taken over that job from Vokun..have to believe they will give Vokun starts and if he does well he'll be their starter I'm sure. But hopefully for this week...well my opponent has Rinne, Niemi, Emery and Reimer. He usually plays roulette with one guy and punishes you with quantity over quality. It's a sound strategy - he gets say 10-12 starts vs. 7 for his opponent and he virtually seals 2 of the 5 categories (saves and wins) by having that many starts. So this will be interesting - I'm not sure who he'll drop this week, because to me he has 4 really good goalies and I think it would be foolish for him to play suicide roulette with me just for the sake of winning one H2H matchup - but there's a lot riding on this match to put it mildly. All I know is if he drops say Reimer or Emery I'd probably make a move for one of them...maybe not Reimer but Emery if he keeps getting starts in Chi and Neuvy gets back on the bench..well we'll see

Knocked off the 1st place team in the league 6-2-0. I rolled the dice in net and started Thomas/Rask with only 2 BOS games for the week instead of going with Thomas + Emery (CHI had 2 games but they were b2b and I assumed Emery would play @ PIT). Needless to say that paid off when Rask picked up the SO against FLA on Friday in that 8-0 drubbing. I took goalie cats 3-0-1 (tied wins even though his goalies - Price and Reimer - had 6 combined starts). Went 3-2-1 in player stats - crushed in goals, sog's and +/-; got crushed in assists, PPP's and tied PIMs.
Overall I think this moves me up into 5th of 14 teams with the top 7 making the playoffs. With that said, it's super tight between 3rd and 10th.

I went 6-6-1 with the guy who's been in 1st place since week 1. of the 6 losses, 4 were goaler categories where he blew me away. I didn't get a single win from any of my goalers and their peripherals were no better. My opponent had Pavalec, Wheeler, and Byfuglien on the night that they smoked Montreal so going into Friday I was worried I was going to get blown away. Thankfully my team came through for me with 3 goals, 8 assists, and a +10 and I won every skater category except PPP and Blocks. Neither one of us had a SHG.
I bought low on Vokoun at the end of the week hoping he and a healthy Lehtonen will help my goaltending. I'm still not sold on Neuvirth and I think Vokoun has a better chance of turning his game around. If anyone saw a 3 goaler tandem of Vokoun, Bryzgalov, and Lehtonen at the beginning of the year they'd be shocked I'm doing as poor as I am in those categories.

I'm really disappointed that this was only a 5-day gameweek because it was really close before friday night and if there were weekend games I feel like I could have pulled it back. That said I lost 3-6-1 with some really awful Goalie stats [2W, 3.73GAA, .873SV%, 0SO] although in the end one good game could have put me back on top there because we both struggled badly.

Well, I pulled out a win against the team jus ahead of me in the standings... 5-4-1 but it wasn't enough to overtake him in the standings. I needed at least 6 wins to make it interesting but I won't complain too much, a win is a win. The good thing about it all is that the 4th place team got hammered with a 8-1-1 loss which dropped him to 8th and vaulted me into 7th now. This league is really tough this year, well it's tough every year but this year is much more competitive and very close in the standings. Like I said before, one bad week in this league can kill a team big time.
I will continue to tinker with the team, outside my starters... just to make sure I get the most out of the players availble on the FA list. I feel I may need to address my +/- stats, they are really getting bad. I've made a couple changes this week with the addition of Seidenberg, and Foligno who both have better stats than Clarkson and Cleary. Time will tell, and I will have to keep a close eye on it as I am playing a team that I SHOULD beat this week (11th overall). My goalie situation has turned around of sorts... Neuvirth is getting starts over Vokoun, Elliott is STELLAR between the pipes, and Nabokov has surprised me so far with a win and a respectible gaa/sv% considering he is playing for the Islanders. I HOPE he gets traded to a team that has a better defense.. that would help his numbers. As for Bernier, he is my future, and will sit on the bench until he's ready, or the Kings feel he's ready, not in a rush to trade/release the number one goalie prospect out there right now.
I moved from fifth place to ninth place thanks to being a perfect loss to the first place team.

My league is close this year, but last year I remember after week 15 I was in 6th place, 1 point behind 1st. We aren't that close this year, but it's still pretty darn tight.

I don't think it's possible to get any closer than that. That would be ridiculous if you lost a matchup something like 4 - 5 and went from first place to sixth place.
