Mon, Oct 10

Crawford was given the day off Monday due to a lower body injury, the Blackhawks' official Twitter feed reports.

Recommendation: Assuming it's not serious, he could be back at practice as early as Tuesday. Health permitting, Crawford should see upwards of 60 starts as Chicago's primary goaltender this season.

Wouldn't worry too much. They have a couple days before their next game. It it likely very minor.

I have Crawford in one league and I may contemplate picking up Emery just as insurance, not just for now, but all year. Hell, I might grab him and try to trade them both as a package.

If you have a spot, it might not be a bud cuff habs.

I can always make room with this league. There are no limits so I have several players I drop regularly.

I originally heard when Emery made the team he was expected to see around 25 -30 starts this year

Only 36 pick ups allowed down to 35 ...Hello Emery good bye Derek Stepan. Thanks LWL for the timely news. I'm sure Emery would have been gone soon had I not grabbed him. One week ago having Crawford and Vokoun as my only 2 goalies I felt great. Now after Vokoun's swiss cheese impression and now this, I'm not so comfortable.

Stepan practiced on the first line today and will likely be there for the next game.

Boy aren't all you guys bearers of good news.

Corey Crawford was back after taking the last two days for maintenance. Ray Emery was out with the flu. Alex Salak was recalled from the Rockford IceHogs.

The goaltending merry-go-round was in full effect on Wednesday morning. And while Crawford said he was feeling better in his return to practice, coach Joel Quenneville said he will not announce the starting goaltender against Winnipeg until Thursday morning.

So, as of today, it's could be any of the three?

"As of this moment that's a good statement," Quenneville said.

Crawford missed the past two days with an undisclosed injury he suffered in one of the first two games. He said the groin injury, which hampered him at the end of preseason, is "not an issue."

Quenneville hopes Emery is back Thursday morning. But Salak is here if necessary. While it wouldn't be surprising if Crawford does start on Thursday, it may also not be a bad idea to rest him. It's early, it's a long season, and while there'll be some hooplah with the return of the Jets -- and former Blackhawks Dustin Byfuglien and Andrew Ladd -- Winnipeg is not a divisional game.

Crawford, who did some extra drills with goaltending coach Stephan Waite before Wednesday's practice, said he could play on Thursday.

"I felt good today in the full practice," he said. "It's not bothering me, so that's good."

With Emery playing tonight, is there reason to be scared? My team is below..I am debating if I should drop someone and pick up Emery just incase. There is no starting goalies available in our free agent list so if Crawford goes down..I can be screwed if someone picks up Emery..plus we have a 3 game goalie minimum. What to do? :(

12 Team Weekly Head to Head League (4 C's, 2 LW's, 2 RW's, 4 D's, 3 Util, and 2 Goalies can start everyday) Stats are G, A, P, +/-, PIM, SOG, PPP, SHP, GWG, Hits, Block Shots, and Faceoffs Won...for Goalies...GS, W, L, GA, GAA, SV%, Saves, Minutes Played)

C - E. Staal, Spezza, Dubinsky, Gomez
LW - Semin, Sharp
RW - Perry, Jagr
D - Burns, Myers, Shattenkirk, Zidlicky
UTIL - Gagne (LW), Morrow (LW), J. Williams
G - Bryzgalov, Crawford, Nabokov (3 Game Min Start per week)

IR - Perron (LW) (Can stash 3 players on IR)

Bench - Prospal (LW), Bouchard (RW), Gaustad (C)

thanks Patrick for the confirmation :) I kind of wished Chicago didn't sign Emery when they did because I feel Crawford's job is more safe with Salak as his backup since Emery has NHL experience. But as long as everything is fine I am happy
