Watched Theodore post a SO.. impressive. That being said.. Clemmenson is hurt right now.. so.. do you think it's worth keeping Markstrom? He is the goalie of the future.. but if Theodore keeps this up.. not sure if Markstrom will see any ice time at all. Thoughts?
Anyone hear how Markstrom's camp went? Would he have made the team if Clemmenson wasn't hurt???

In any keeper league Markstrom's a winner. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes (Jose Theodore). I would expect Markstrom to get starts soon enough.

Well.. it's been the Jose Theodore show in Florida so far... does Markstrom get the start monday night???? I know I sound like an impatient little kid.. but basically it boils down to total starts for the week for my team in net... and I'm struggling with a decision that I'm going to have to make here soon.. either drop Greiss or Markstrom for a d man. I'm leaning towards Greiss.. but the whole Nittymaki thing comes into question as well.. when is Nittymaki expected back??
With this weeks schedule.. you gotta think Florida has to play Markstrom either monday or tuesday with the back to back games against Tampa and Washington.. !! Then they play Buffalo on thursday and the Islanders on saturday... not sure why they don't give this kid a chance!!??!!

I actually think Markstrom will get the start Monday, but of course, that isn't confirmed yet. Hopefully it's Monday, because if it's Tuesday, he's in real trouble lol.

Why drop Greiss? I didn't think nittanyaki was due back for quite some time and I'm not even sure niemi is 100%. Even if niemi is back he's not gonna see every start they'll have to ease him back in. Plus if your league counts wins Greiss and San Jose are a really good team so wins should be easier to come by IMO

Normally you would be right, but I only have 1 starter, Fluery, and he isn't exactly sparkling in the GAA & SV% right now either.....

Well.. I think I've came to the conclusion that I can't drop either goalie.. the stats are just too valuable for this week after I took a look at the schedule there. I'm going to have to drop a forward... for a d man. But when Crosby gets the ok to come back off of the IR.. I'll be at square one with this on my lap again.. and will have no choice but to pull the trigger on dropping one of these goalies.
I have 5 on the roster right now.. Varlamov, Neuvirth, Bernier, Greiss, and Markstrom.. and the only goalie that has a favorable schedule is Bernier.. but his starts aren't guaranteed with St.Louis, Dallas, and Phoenix. Varly has Chicago twice after Giguere gets the start against the Leafs, Neuvirth has Philly and Detroit assuming Vokun has the Florida game.. IF he is healthy.. Greiss has Jersey or Boston with the back to back.. Markstrom has Tampa or Washington with the back to back... don't expect him to start in any other circumstance other than back to back game situations... so Buffalo and the Islanders later in the week is probably a wash.
I think I'm starting to lose my hair.. haha!

That's a lot to think about lol.

I think the word when Clemmenson got hurt was that Markstrom would be sent down once he got healthy. That probably depends on Markstrom's play though.

You can carry 5 goalies? You lucky SOB! I could have Schneider, Greiss or Neuvy right now if I could carry a 5th and be a very, very happy camper lol..but yea, that's a LOT to think about.

Ya.. after seeing that once again the Panthers didn't start Markstrom.. I pulled the trigger and dropped him and picked up Elliott from the Blues instead expecting him to play of of their back to back games come friday or saturday there. Why keep the kid as a bench warmer if he has so much talent.. he will get better with some ice time.. not sitting on the damn bench.

Five is not that uncommon for some folks in the yahoo leagues-- Generally there are only two goalie playing spots but with 4 of 5 bench spots in most leagues, theoretically you could carry as many as seven but generally there is no added benefit. I am playing a guy that has 5 goalies right now while most people in my leagues (with rosters of 25 and 16 overall) end up the same as me with 4.
Last year I saw one guy carry 6 goalies routinely for a while but it was all about future trades

Well I can only carry 4 and honestly it presents a number of problems especially when you have a situation where you have a guy like Brodeur. I am then forced to carry Hedberg (whom I would probalby carry regardless)...and do to poor drafting I had Anderson as my 3rd goalie, but dropped him because he sucks lol. No real viable start out there at this point...picked up Enroth. So I'm in a pretty bad situation just in terms of quantity of starts, because I really only have 2 starters in Lundy and Brodeur - Hedberg and Entroth will see maybe 25-30% of starts. If I could carry a 5th, I could do 1 of 2 things - play goalie roulette and play matchups most nights, or I could carry someone like Schneider or Greiss...so having 3 backup goalies would be so much better as I'd get the opportunity for a lot more starts that way.

Looks like Markstrom had a good start. 29 saves on 31 shots by the Capitols is not a bad number at all. I hope he stays put so we can see more of him this year.

I am in a Keeper league where I am currently carrying 3 goalies. I think that is more than enough. I am carrying, Bryzgalov, Rinne and Miller. I don't think I need any more than that.

At the beginning of the year I was offered Plekanec, Rinne and 1st round pick next year for Luongo and a 4th round pick so I took it.

Markstrom's play so far has been impressive. What is his value in a one year league? I am about to take the risk on him.

Well lol if I had the three goalies you had I wouldn't need a 4th either. You have 3 studs..I am not as fortunate (nor was I savvy enough in my draft apparently).

That is an outstanding deal! Even if Luongo started out on fire I still think you made out like a bandit on that trade.

@Rocketman9: It's easy to only carry three tenders when those are your three. It's like a holy trinity of netminding.
Did anyone see the series of saves against MTL?

Bright future, but a good speculative pickup if you can afford it, there could be a decent chance that Theodore tanks.

Lost 4-3 tonight..does he get another shot in net or is it time for Theodore to get back in there?

That was just a crazy end of the game. Down 3-2 they tie it up with like 40 seconds to go and then Ottawa gets teh game winner with like 10 seconds to go. What a frantic finish!

OTT just likes buzzer beaters for the win apparently.
