My team hasn't done too well the first two weeks in. With the stats in our league, would it be smart carrying 4 goalies. The best available goalies in the free agents are Bernier, Giguere, Markstrom, Gustavsson, Dan Ellis, Lindback, Chris Mason, Bobrovsky. My team is below along with the stats in my league. I was looking to maybe taking Bernier or Markstrom.

I mean the more good goalies you have the better chance of turning it around - that's a ton of categories but goalie stats make up 8 of your 20 categories. As I've said in the past, 3-4 guys impacting 40% of your total score? Yes, I would go after 4 goalies in your league. You can turn things around if you can start winning goalie categories and doing it consistently. The guy in my league that won last year did a huge turnaround after he made some trades and ended up with Luongo, Quick, Rinne and Lundy. He literally went from last to first and then won the playoffs..all on the goalies. 5 out of 12 categories in my league are goalie related - he ensured he would pretty much win those 5 every week. Do the math..you don't have to have great skaters to win each week if you can pull the goalie categories. You have 3 good goalies already, though Nabokov its dicey because the Isles will go with whomever has the hot hand, they have stated that - and right now its Montoya. You don't have a legit starter in that group on the FA list. I'm almost wondering if you should offer say Jagr and Nabokov for a really top starting goalie and see what would happen. Just my .02 of course..or Prospal is a good sell high guy right now as well.

thanks mbr311..it was very detailed .02 and I totally agree with you. Goalies in our league are so valuable no one would be willing to trade. And if someone is about to be a starter he gets snatched right away. I want to be on top of that so I can get another starter on my team as I know it will be nearly impossible to trade for a goalie. Garon got picked up right away when Roloson failed. And even someone has Conklin in a one year league..maybe cause he needs a start. But I am keeping my eye on Markstrom..I really want him to be the starter in Florida. What are his chances for this season?

I was talking about Markstrom all day and if I should pick him up at the expense of Halak. The general consensus for ME was no but since you're not giving up a goalie go for it. Look at what he did tonight. I wanted to spot start him tonight but I have the max number of goalies one can own...I don't know how bad Theodore's injury is but Markstrom at least in the short term is obviously a viable option. I don't think he's in danger of getting sent down until Clemenson gets healthy but I also have no idea when that would be. I say go for it...someone might grab him after tonights performance

BTW what if you put up say Gagne and Nabokov for a top goalie? You have Prospal to fill the void...you think anyone would bite on that? Hell I don't even mean top as in say quick or Thomas but why not Howard or someone like that??

I'm CONSIDERING picking up a 4th goalie myself. Would have helped me out this week. I have 3 goalies and can start 2 on any given day. For the most part this week, all 3 are playing on the same days so I'm essentially LOSING a goalie this week.

BTW, don't just look at FA goaltenders. You probably have to drop someone to add another goalie....so look at other teams in your league for a guy who is STACKED with goaltending but is lacking in O or D. Consider offering a trade to get a better goalie than you will find on the FA market.

Bobrovsky would compliment Bryzgalov well.
Drop Gomez
