Who should I target?
Can he snag a guy like Green/Letang or will I have to settle for a 2nd tier guy?

What are the specifications of the league? Players starting, point system?
Probably not going to get Green or Letang but start by asking who knows, maybe try for Phaneuf,Edler or Suter?

id try to get phaneuf , as someone will probably want to sell him, thinking he will not keep this up, i dont think anyone would deal letang or green for koivu

Doesn't hurt to ask, but I would temper your expectations of landing Letang or Green for Koivu. Send the requests and see what happens. I find most deals are establish during the counter offer process anyway.

Yeah, when people bother to offer counters. Unless I have absolutely no interest in the player offered I counter to see what happens (I mean unless he was offering me Stamkos for Horcoff, no need to counter there). I wish others would do the same when they are intrigued but not sold.

I had an offer of Koivu + Halak for Duchene + Kronwall, I've countered with Koivu + Halak for Kesler + Kronwall. Don't really want Kronwall, but at this point I don't really want to keep Halak. See what happens.
I made offers of Koivu for Karlsson/Letang, no takers...

Yea I always try to counter. It's hard just to throw out a trade and hit it right away unless you are discussing it behind the scenes (like what happened when I traded Chara straight up for Kesler).
I was negotiating moving Edler for a number of guys - Backes (glad I didn't do that), etc.. and that's how we came to Chara for Kesler.
If people want to make something work, a counter usually occurs. I do a lot of the work in my league through email. I find that discussing our wants and needs vs just throwing out an offer is much more productive. Some people actually get pissed if you offer a 2-for-1 for one of their "best" players. When in all reality if you break down the numbers..well whatever. It's just easier if people talk about it and not just hit "decline" because the other person then has no idea what to do. You don't want to barrage a person with trade requests if they don't want to make a move but if they are interested, dialogue is highly important.
Right now I'm in heavy talks for Parenteau and ??? for Higgins and ????
Original offer was Parenteau and Hanzal for Heatley and Higgins
I just am not comfortable first and foremost giving up the massive hits that Hanzal has vs. his two guys. Not to mention I value Higgins more than he does. I don't blame him for leveraging that fact (I have Kesler and want to put the two together) but the fact that he's dropped to the 3rd line now, well that tempers things. I countered with Parenteau and Hanzal for Higgins and Dustin Brown. He declined. Now I'm offering Parenteau and O. Jokinen for Heatley and Higgins. We'll see...we might not strike a deal, but I'm not gonna do a trade just to trade. lol

Agreed, the way I saw it, Koivu and Duchene are pretty much a wash, so he was really only offering Kronwall for Halak... Halak has been awful, but he has to have more value than Kronwall. I'm not even sure I'd keep Kronwall if I ended up with him.
What do you think about maybe taking on Markov? Pretty big risk, I would do Halak/Koivu for Duchene/Kronwall/Markov, not sure if he would. He has 5 dmen, so in order to activate Markov, whenever that may be, he's got to drop someone, obvious choice currently being Kronwall.
You're team looks pretty stacked, not sure how you ended up with all those guys!
