I'm in a keeper league and we get to keep 5 players from year to year. I've narrowed it down to 6 but am hoping for some advice on who to keep.

E. Staal, B. Ryan, P. Sharp, N. Backstrom(Was), J. Skinner and H. Lundqvist

league is scored: G-3, A-2, +/-1, PIM - 0.5, SOG - 0.4, W-4, GA- -1, Saves - 0.2, SO-2

Its a 20 man roster with 3 C, LW and RW, 5D and 2 goalies allowed per night.

Thanks for your help.

In your scoring system, Lundqvist is a top five goalie - so I would hold onto to him for sure. Also, he is the top scorer of the players you mentioned above.

Those five forwards you listed are not separated by many points in your scoring system. Staal, Ryan, and Sharp lead the pack. Backstrom is about 10% behind them (although that should change this season). Skinner was about 20% behind the top three. It's a tough call since this is a keeper league. If you were simply drafting players, I'd have Skinner ranked the lowest out of the players you listed. But, given that you'll keep players from year-to-year, I'd consider parting ways with the oldest guy on the list: Patrick Sharp (shooting percentage, on average, declines with age - and thus goal totals begin to drop off).

5 keepers! Thats 25% of your team!

I think that E. Staal, B. Ryan, P. Sharp are without a question. Now, as for a goalie, that would really depend on what is going to be available to actually draft. I dont know how many teams are in your league, but if there are say 10, thats 50 kept players, and I imagine there would not be lots of top tier goalies left. Saying you keep Lundqvist, your question to me is do you keep Skinner or Backstrom.

I see Skinner having more upside to you since you get to keep so many players.

Without a doubt sharp is your dropped, but who knows, maybe you'll reacquire him through the draft. The others are all on the upswing of their careers, or right in the prime of it. Not to mention a contract extension for sharp this year relieves some of the pressure off him. Lundqvist is one of the most consistent goalies night in and night out, you'd be hard pressed to get him again.

Thanks for your helpful opinions. I'm dropping Sharp.
