• NHL Top 50 Player Rankings - December 23, 2011

A rash of concussions has knocked out many top players for varying lengths of time. Some of the more notable players include: Chris Pronger, Sidney Crosby, Claude Giroux, Milak Michalek, Kris Letang, and Jeff Skinner. The loss of these players is tragic, and NHL management, teams, and other players are struggling to adjust. Let's take a look at the top 50 players in the NHL right now, some of which may drop off of future top 50 lists due to being sidelined with concussions for extended periods of time.

The purpose of these rankings is to give you an idea of the most valuable NHL players based upon a number of factors, including past production, injury history, age, average time on ice, performance predictions, etc.

As always, don't forget to check out our starting goalies, line combos, team pages, weekly schedule, TOI tool, and forum for more information on all things NHL.

I really dont know who does these rankings but how is brodeur, lehtonen, vokoun, crosby and most of all skinner on this list? To me...if a player isnt playing or has been injured for a long period of time how do they warrant being on this list? This comment is up for debate but my next one is not...

Where is Eberle! not even see Eberle mentioned in the list or on the bubble? Poor kid cant get any recognition by anyone. Shame on whoever left him off this list. Hes in the top 20 hands down.

At this point Crosby shouldn't even be on the list imo.

Jordan Eberle, duh! Also, I think players on IR or who have not played recently, should not be included in any player ranking format. Maybe your new daily ranking tool will address my concern? Thanks LWL, ya'll kick ass! Skoal.
