The Leafs had a better series than I anticipated. They actually look like a team with a bit of a future. But the awful arrogance that arises from many of the fans of the Leafs led me to take special enjoyment in their getting out to the 4-1 lead and then blowing it in one of the more impressive blowups of all time . The agony of the Leafs fans was palpable.

Is it wrong that I enjoyed it a bit ?

Goalie buyers and sellers

Mike posed the interesting thought about Halak potentially being available, got me thinking about who would be interested in him. So I pose the question, who appears to be in the market for a goalie, and who appears to have one up for sale?

SELLERS

Vancouver - The obvious answer. Luongo will be gone, and despite the fact this is all looking like deja vu, there can't possibly be a scenario where he plays the backup role for a second straight season.

St. Louis - As Mike mentioned, could Halak be up for grabs? Elliot recovered nicely after his AHL stint, and Jake Allen appears to be the heir apparent to the crease. For a guy who was brought in to be the starter, Halak could find himself as the odd man out very quickly.

Anaheim - Interesting situation with Fasth coming in and playing as well as he did. Hiller will be going into the last year of his contract at $4.5 million. They have a very good goalie in the AHL, Frederik Anderson, and John Gibson in the OHL. It would depend on how comfortable they felt with Fasth, but it's not hard to see a scenario where Hiller is moved by deadline day.

BUYERS

New Jersey - Brodeur can't play forever, and Hedberg is even less likely to do it. Brodeur has a year left on his deal, most likely his last. Why not bring a guy in and give him one year working with (arguably) the greatest goaltender of all time? More likely to go out and get a young guy... Bernier?

Florida - The rumoured destination for Luongo. Theodore is a UFA, Clemmenson has one year left and Markstrom may or may not be ready for the big time yet. Definitely in need of some help.

NY Islanders - Nabokov will be 38. Tim Thomas is not going with them to Brooklyn. We won't even talk about DiPietro. This team took major strides this year, but will need a franchise goalie in order to keep moving in the right direction.

Who do you guys think will be buyers and sellers in the goalie market?

Simple question... Is Martin St. Louis a future hall-of-famer?

My answer is absolutely. 912 points in 979 games, a mere 280 PIMs in his career, only eclipsing 30 PIMs in a season twice. Six all-star games, numerous individual awards including a Hart and a couple of Art Ross, and of course a Stanley Cup in 2004.

Not bad for an undrafted, 'undersized' player.
