If you've used our fantasy hockey tools in the past (especially our draft kits), you know that numbers are the foundation of our tools. This tool is no different. Each night, we will assess every starting goalie and assign them a Goalie Start Index, or GSI. The higher the number, the better the start. Our GSI takes into account a goalie's statistics, his team's statistics, the statistics of the opposing goalie and opposing team, and any relevant head-to-head data. As with any predictive system, we're bound to get games wrong. But, because our foundation is statistical in nature, our system will be more robust than a system that relies on unquantifiable intangibles.
