Thread: How MANY stat categories?

    EDIT: Seeing as other people are posting their stat choices I should probably post mine;
Skaters: G A +/- SHP PPP Blocks Hits PIM FOW SOG
Goalies: Wins Saves SV% GAA SHO
I go with this ... 15 stats...also saves is good because it gives people more incentive to play more goalies...otherwise you get three good games and you can sit your goalies out for the week

have to disagree...+/- is very similar of a stat in the sense that a player might give up the puck and get scored on...but because of one mistake of a player the other 5 get minus's

Hey guys - I agree with rocket man on the ratios - also I have never played with hits, blocked shots or Face offs won - so I would like to see this in as well. In regards to the GAA and Saves -i have read everyone's feedback and I am fine one way or the other - I do like having them both included - I have had to make that decision on a Sunday night - I am winning the GAA and wins - but really close on the saves - my opponent has 2 goalies playing and will take over the saves - do I play my goalies and risk giving up the GAA and/wins - this is where it gets interesting becasue you will have 10 different responses depending on the goalies playing and the teams they are playing. Sure makes it more interesting - thats for sure.

    Flubber 10-5
    UK Rob 10-5
    Wings9798 10-7
    Leafs 8-5 or 9-4
    Tim 9-4
    dpclark11 9-5
    Flames89Champs 7-4
    Rocketman9 10-5
    Canucks108 10-5
    Mj12 10-5

I know they are linked but we have
6 votes for 10 offensive stats
    1.5 for 9,
    .5 for 8 and
    1 for 7--

on the goalie side it is
    1 vote for 7,
    6.5 votes for 5,
    and 2.5 votes for 4.

with 10 of 16 voters reporting-- Looking at it from a ratio perspective 2 people voted for ratios greater than 2 to 1, Five voted for exactly a 2:1 and two voters went for less-- one voter mention sets above and below 2:1 (I'll say this-- we have a diverse bunch )

If we can get some decision on the number of stats to be used we can look at the choices for people that proposed that particular line and ask those that proposed other setups to post their entire set as well to fulfill the agreed stat set. I bet we will quickly find that 80-90% of the stats are listed by all ( anyone not listing Goals and Assists??) and we can look at the candidates for the last slots by deciding among the contenders.

Does that seem a good way to go?

I think doing it by stat would be a better idea. We could have a thread for goalie stats and one for skater stats.

    That works as well.

Hopefully-- based on what I have seen when people posted their stats line on any grouping of 8-10 offense stats and 3-5 defense stats it appears that G, A, +/- PPP and SOG offensively and W GAA and Sv% for goalies had near unanimous support.

There were several others with frequent mentions

In light of Tim's timelines in the other threads, I am going to suggest that we hold this open for one more week.

Actually it's not really that close at all with a huge lead for 10 offensive stats and 5 goalie stats. I think it's pretty safe to say this has been decided. I'm going to make a couple of threads for which stats will be used.
