    Starting Goalies - Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the All-Star break! There are 13 games on the schedule tonight, which means there are plenty of fantasy hockey points waiting to be claimed. Will Detroit go with Howard against Calgary or give him some post-ASG rest? We could see a couple of great goalie match-ups tonight as some probable starters are Anderson vs. Thomas, Miller vs. Price, and Lundqvist vs. Brodeur.

We've added two new tools during the All-Star break:

    1. Goalie Profiles: e.g. Henrik Lundqvist

    2. Goalie Start Index: a nightly rating system to help you choose which goalies to start (goes live at 11:59 PM EST tonight).

Pick today's winner in our daily poll.

Our newest features are the news feed and the player profile tool. Updated throughout the day!

We've got tomorrow's starting goalies for you as well.

Post your comments, questions, and confirmations about today's goalies in this thread.

For the goalie profiles, will you be putting up a new link tab to 'Goalie Profiles' or are you folks just simply adding goalies now to the 'Player Profile' team lists?

Allright gotta start things coming off the break on a good note

    Gustavsson confirmed in Pittsburgh

    OR

Nabokov at Carolina (if he plays)

Both seem to be on a roll. Gustavsson has the tougher matchup IMO in Pitt and a few weeks ago Nabokov stoned the Hurricanes letting only 1 goal in on 33 shots. However let's face it, Isles on the road seem to be a different team altogether at times. It might not make a difference if Nabokov doesn't get the start but if he does, who do you go with? Thanks!

I don't like either matchup, I would have to take Nabby, Pitt vs Toronto has the potential for some bad goalie numbers. I wouldn't touch it if I were you.

Plus Malkin is red hot. Would you want to put the Monster up against him.

So just start Lundy then and leave Gustavsson on the bench? I'm cool with that b/c if he gets blown up that could cause serious problems. You think that's the best idea I assume? What if Lundy doesn't play though (not confirmed yet I don't think)

Well Biron plays tonight. Lundy should play the Sabres tomorrow night. I would just leave it, there is a whole lot of week left with better matchups IMO. You can handle 1 night.

I have Bryz, Rinne, and Ward. First thought was that Rinne's a must start no matter what, and Bryz at home against the Jets should be good. But Poulin has sucked this year, would Cam Ward against the Isles be a better play than Bryz against the Jets?

Just remember, Phi vs Winnipeg has yielded 25 goals in 2 games, I would be hesitant on Bryz.
