    Starting Goalies - Wednesday, February 1, 2012

The second game of the back-to-back home-and-home set between the Penguins and Maple Leafs is tonight. It was a close game last night with the Penguins making a comeback to beat Toronto in the shootout. Will we see Fleury and Reimer tonight?

We've added two new tools during the All-Star break:

    1. Goalie Profiles: e.g. Henrik Lundqvist

    2. Goalie Start Index: a nightly rating system to help you choose which goalies to start.

Pick today's winner in our daily poll.

Our newest features are the news feed and the player profile tool. Updated throughout the day!

We've got tomorrow's starting goalies for you as well.

Post your comments, questions, and confirmations about today's goalies in this thread.

    Tigers team

I sat last night and so avoided Anderson's loss to the Bruins. The goalie line now is

    me 1W 2.64 67 saves .905 1
    him 1 W 2.67 120saves .909 0

Tonight roll Lundqvist and my other two options are Clem and Neuvirth. I was torn and then saw the FSI number is 51-49 favoring Clemmensen so prety much a "push" there. Thoughts?

Based on starts the rest of the week, is there a chance you can catch him in saves? If not, maybe consider only Lundqvist?

I have to agree with Mike, perhaps just roll with Lundy if you can.

So my stats so far this week are great:
    3 wins, 0.65 GAA, .974% and 2 SHO

    my opponent has:
    2 wins, 2.44 GAA and .920%

Should I play Lundqvist tonight anyway and try to get a win? I think my lead is pretty safe as is Lundqvist

I would think it is a safe start.

There is a chance but its slim-- I can roll 2 guys tonight and he has nobody-- The rest of the week -- well-- he is rolling SIX goalies (Kipper, M Smith, Halak, Giguere, Emery, Backstrom) Some of those guys I am unsure on whether they start but he should at least equal my 3-4 starts that are probabl3 ( I get three beyond tonight if Lundy plays and Anderson does both sides of a B2B and I get nothing else from Neuvirth and Clemmensen

But leaving aside saves, I would like to compete in wins if I can. But Neuvirth has had some real bombs. I like WASH better as a team but Clem has not had a sub .900 game in his last 7. His season .914 is above my current .905 etc etc-- My fear though is I still see the Caps as a squad that can light it up sometimes. Would it be crazy to roll Clem here??

Take the context that this is my 8th place team trying to climb the standings so while its not "all or nothing" yet, I need to start gaining (8 points out from 5th and 6th with a 7th place team in between that currently leads the 5th place team 11-0) --

Generally I hate sitting -- yesterday I sat

Anderson-- this was correct in all respects sicne he predictably surrendered 4 to the Bruins
Crawford-- he had a good enough performance it would have helped despite the loss
Pavelec-- a win and a great performance

You never know-- I ask for the advice and decide and take my chances-- here my gut is saying to play two guys-- Its riskier-- Two bad losses could see me irretrievably behind -- ahh the dilemma--

Yeah I benched a Lehtonen shutout before the all star break.
