    Starting Goalies - Thursday, February 2, 2012

There's a major Western Conference matchup tonight between the Red Wings and Canucks. According to the Goalie Start Index, Howard has a 53-47 edge over Luongo tonight. Should be a great game.

We've added two new tools during the All-Star break:

    1. Goalie Profiles: e.g. Henrik Lundqvist

    2. Goalie Start Index: a nightly rating system to help you choose which goalies to start.

Pick today's winner in our daily poll.

Our newest features are the news feed and the player profile tool. Updated throughout the day!

We've got tomorrow's starting goalies for you as well.

Post your comments, questions, and confirmations about today's goalies in this thread.

Not giving Dubnyk much of a shot at home against Chicago? RNH could be back in and Dubnyk has been playing solid of late.

Rask was the 1st goalie off the ice today. He should be the starter tonight for Boston.

    Nice !!
I was wondering how some of it works though because you had Clemmensen as only 51-49 over Neuvirth but when I compared their stats over the last 10 games, Clemmensen was the clear cut leader. Frankly Neuvirth is shaping up as the disappointment of my year.

This brings up a tough decision for me. I have Rinne who's probable and I would assume is starting, Crawford who is confirmed for tonight and now Rask is probably going to play. I'm playing Rinne for sure if he does start and if he does start should I play Rask or Crawford as my second goalie? They're both playing struggling teams so I have no idea who I should play out of them. Any advice anybody?

Part of the reason the GSI was closer than you might think is because Washington is in the top 10 in goals-per-game.

    OK I trail

    3GS 2W 1.33 GAA .954 1SHO to his
    5 GS 4W 1.17GAA .963 2SHO

    Tonight I have

    CRawford vs EDM FSI 56
    Pavelec vs TBL FSI 48'

I understand Lehtonen is not starting??

I figure I have to start both. The chances I will improve on a .954 are pretty slim so I am fighting now to try to take starts and wins-- If I sit at all, he sits and dares me to get above .963 with later starts. I believe I can outstart him by enough the rest of the way to win GS

That is a wicked goalie battle. I think you have to start both.
