    Trade for Chara

I am in a 8 team head to head Yahoo pool where the following forward stats apply:

    G
    A
    +/-
    PIM
    SOG
    FW
    HIT

I have been offered Marian Gaborik & Scott Hartnell for Zdeno Chara. I am leaning towards taking this because I am really hurting on shots, goals, Plus Minus and assists. If you were in my position would you take this?

This is the rest of my team:

    Manny Malhotra
    Steven Stamkos
    Alexander Semin
    Phill Kessel
    Teemu Selanne
    David Backes
    Zdeno Chara
    Dan Hamhuis
    Kevin Bieksa
    Ryan Suter
    Patrice Bergeron
    Milan Lucic
    James Wisniewski

    Carey Price
    Ryan Miller
    Dwayne Roloson

No way would I take Gaborik and Hartnell for Chara. NO WAY

Hartnell does absolutely nothing in my opinion but help in PIMs. His ice time is low (11:02 on average right now), he has 1 assist in 3 games where they've scored something like 15 goals as a team, he has 1 SOG and 5 hits..in 3 games. Dude you could find someone better on the waiver wire than Hartnell in my opinion. With all the talent Philly has..and their new acquisitions...JVR, Simmonds, Read, Voracek, Couturier, Jagr...I could see Hartnell on the freakin' checking line at some point in the season. Do you realize that of all Flyers players that have played this season so far, including defenders, Hartnells ATOI is 2nd lowest on the team...slightly ahead of Andraes Nodl. Simmonds, Jagr, REad, Courturier, JVR, Jagr - all are averaging over 15 minutes a game. Hartnell = 11 minutes. And I don't think its some anomaly, he's played 11, 11, 10...and their lines are clicking great, they are winning, so what incentive do they have to switch anything up? I think the guy actually got dropped in my league and the kid who has 9 Flyers on his roster already won't even touch him lol

Gaborik is a good player but seriously I would not do this trade. You need to ask for WAY MORE.

let me put it this way - I have Chara, and I've been offered Rick Nash straight up and Ryan Kesler straight up..and I declined Nash and am still thinking about Kesler. There's no way in hell I'd give up Chara for Hartnell and Gaborik...IMO Chara will help you in every one of those categories more than both of those guys combined. Gaborik is on a very good line with Richards and Dubinsky, but he doesn't do much in terms of hits. Chara will outhit both of them combined..You put Hartnell's 11 minutes of ice time combined with Gaborik's 19 minutes and Chara will help with ATOI more than a combo of Hartnell and Gaborik. Hartnell is projected for a +9, Gaborik +7 - Chara +23...so he is projected to do better in +/- than both of those guys together. DO NOT MAKE THIS TRADE. You need to be asking for a superstar player in return for Chara, PERIOD. He was pretty much the consensus #1 defender taken off the board this year. You are giving a first round pick for a 7th round and a 8th round on average..I woulnd't do this not in a million year.

Great advice I see what you mean about their two stats vs him as a super star. I will decline this trade.

I did some editing too to further show the difference..lol..sorry I get carried away sometimes but I just wanted to make sure you didn't do this (unless you're in my league and you want to give me Chara for Gaborik and someone else lol).

Hartnell is losing all his time to Wayne Simmonds. He isn't on the PP anymore either so his value this year is going to be very low especially in an 8 team league. Gaborik may not be a bad pickup but you'll want someone better paired with him for what you lose with Chara.

Haha that's the danger of posting on here using the same username as people in your league know

I dunno though, I'd be giving HIM the gears for proposing that crap-for-a-trade lol

I don't think the same username matters that much-- If someone posted a trade I was offering, i would recognize it if I read it-- I mean what are the chances of an identical offer of players? If I saw that I would read on and the team roster, stats and league size would confirm which deal it was

Why?? Its fair ball to seek input.

My only comment on all of MBRs stuff is that I wouldn't do the trade but mbr311 should note that average time on ice is notb a stat in most leagues so its irrelevent except to the extent it limits someones ability to produce
