    Starting Goalies - Friday, February 17, 2012

    Tonight, there are seven games in the NHL which contribute toward your fantasy hockey totals. Part of winning in fantasy hockey is choosing the right goalie each night. Will you pick the right ones tonight. This is the place to discuss your lineup decisions. If you've read our News Feed this morning, then you know that Henrik Zetterberg will be out of action for tonight's game. Will we see any trades today? I'll be watching the Montreal Canadiens face off against the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 PM EST.

    We've added two new tools during the All-Star break:

    1. Goalie Profiles: e.g. Henrik Lundqvist

    2. Goalie Start Index: a nightly rating system to help you choose which goalies to start.

    Pick today's winners in our daily poll.

    We've got tomorrow's starting goalies for you as well.

    Post your comments, questions, and confirmations about today's goalies in this thread.

    I can't believe I didn't get a single start last night 

    Lundy = bench
    Halak = bench
    Nabokov = sick

    That really hurt me last night. My GAA and SV% are excellent but I've only had 2 starts! I was expecting at least 1 last night. Total saves I don't care too much about b/c it's one of those stats that, relatively speaking, it is not tied to the quality of play but rather the quantity of play in this instance. However it has put me behind the 8-ball for wins. I need to grab 3 of the 5 goalie categories I think to walk out with a "W" this week. My skaters are still killing it at least...and my goalies (when they play lol).

    It does look like MacDonald is confirmed for tonight though so at least I'll get a start tonight.

    Is Greiss the expected starter solely b/c of the back-to-back games?
    I have Theodore starting and have to put in Niemi or Greiss before I go out this evening :x

    I'm leaving Greiss in there as between Niemi's rough last few games, up and down, and having just played so many straight, I think Greiss is a likely starter but i DESPERATELY need all the starts I can get.

    FLA duo wet the bed vs. Ott the other night ... Niemi got lit up for 6 goals last night.

    Greiss was expected because of the back-to-back and Niemi's poor performance the other night. Greiss is now the confirmed starter for this evening.

    In addition to the reasons Patrick listed, this is also an out-of-conference game.

    Nice that Joey gets another start on Sunday. I was hoping against hope that when I picked him up he would get Friday with rumours already circulating that Howard will be back. Now I get another start out of him on Sunday. Woot.

    Sharks apparently were rooting for Detroit to win last night because they wanted to be the ones to end the streak. Tomorrow is gonna be a great game. Sharks are our Achilles heel team for sure so I would be pretty hesitant to play MacDonald.
