    Ugh...who do I keep...

See my roster below...I just traded for Shattenkirk and will be dropping Garrison. I was leaning towards the following...

    H Sedin, D Sedin, L Eriksson, R Nugent, H Zetterberg, A Pietrangelo, K Shattenkirk, P Rinne

But now I am realizing that most of the teams in my league will be keeping 2 goalies which will mean if I don't keep Brodeur I will be getting a very low end second starting goalie in the first round. My concern is that Brodeur will retire or that he will continue to decline in skill. Should I just keep him and hope, trade him for an upgrade if possible, or bite the bullet and hope to make a deal next year for a goalie?

Secondly...who would be considered an upgrade to Brodeur other then the obvious top goalies.

Seems like it's probable that Brodeur will come back next year, although it's the end of his contract + he would be 40 years old.
This year I would say he started out somewhat inconsistent, but then got into this rhythm, although he is aging + probably will continue to decrease in starts (Hedberg has 20 something starts so far this year)
Not sure about your situation though, I would say to bite the bullet? You already have a star goalie and could probably get a solid goalie through a trade, or nab an emerging goalie.

For the keepers, I think you are on point. As far as an upgrade on Brodeur, look at guys like Hiller, MA Fleury, Mike Smith, J. Halak. There are probably more aside from the obvious Vezina candidates.

What young emerging goalies should I consider? I was thinking of dropping some of my bench players last day of the season and picking up some young goalies and hope for the best come keeper/draft time. I'd really like to keep Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk...I think they are a solid young pair of d men to build my team around for the future and if I kept Brodeur I'd probably drop Shattenkirk.

I would not keep Brodeur. If they are available, look at Schneider, Markstrom, Rask, Karlsson, Greiss, etc.

some people feel Zetterberg is slowing down and possibly may migrate into what Yzerman did.
Sacrifice your offense for the sake of team defense.

Zetterberg's back has been an ailment that pops up here and there... and seeing his greatly slow start this season (I know the Wings as a whole didn't start well) that may have been both factors playing into that.

Just my 2 cents. If you could, I'd try to trade him out for a younger, dual position player (Zetter is C/LW) if you can in the off-season.

I agree with Rocketman; I like Markstrom, Rask is a future (Thomas is what, 38?) also keep an eye on Matt Hackett & Josh Harding - Minne has 3 solid goaltenders and they desperately need scoring, I fully expect them to move one of those two - and actually even moving Backstrom isn't out of the realm of possibility. Nashville is on the same situation with Lidback.

And I also agree Zetterberg's in decline.

I've sent out a note in my league offering up Zetty and Brodeur for an upgrade in goal but if I get no serious bites (1 so far) then I will drop some of my bench players a few days before the end of the season and pick up some of these young guys. I have a potential trade offer for Pavelec which I'll post in the trade forum to get everyone's thoughts.
