Thread: Biggest Fantasy Bust

    Biggest Fantasy Bust

I can't complain too much...I am up 61 points in a points based league with 6 days left. Although, I have no players suiting up tonight and the second place team has a few, so he will gain some more ground. Really hoping to take down the crown though, especially because it's a good buddy of mine in second.

I was looking at my team and without question the bust pick of the year for me has been Ryan Getzlaf. This guy hasn't found the back of the net in 32 games!! That is just insane to me....he is large part of the Anaheim problem this year and if he had performed like he is capable...I would have already won my league...who is your biggest fantasy bust?

I actually DRAFTED Dustin Penner (w/ my last pick).... I figured in his first full season with the Kings (after coming from Edmonton the season before) he had a shot at playing with Kopitar or at least getting some solid second line time, but instead he started the season unmotivated and went downhill from there. Fortunately I dumped him pretty quickly.

My favorite Dustin Penner moment? http://tinyurl.com/76rr2cj

Hahaha...@pancakes...at least you drafted him late in the game...I drafted Getzlaf pretty early in the draft....

Jeff Carter was a pretty big bust for me. Spent a lot of time out early on in the season and never really put up great numbers. I suspect that he'll be much more relevant next year, though.

    Whitney
Markov (should have known better that's on me)

Can't decide which one was a bigger waste (though Whitney has been playing well of late especially during my playoffs so...)

But I have to weigh that against late round picks that turned out amazing. Such is life lol

JVR was kind of a bust too. A lot of people expected him to come out and put on at least a 60 point season, but even if he had remained uninjured, he was only on pace for about 40.
Luckily I traded him right about when his hot start started to come to an end. 12 points in his first 13 games, and then he only managed 12 in the other 30 he played.

It's hard to call them a bust, but at different times I had each Sedin and I wasn't really impressed with their numbers.

The real answer though is Alex semin.

I wouldn't call the Sedin's busts - just if you play in a league that has a scoring system that isn't solely based around points, well I said it in another thread - they weren't even on my board for the first 3 or 4 rounds. What else do they offer?
Semin though that's a GREAT call there.

But I'll one up ya Considering that Ovie was pretty much the consensus #1 this year well...luckily he adds quite a bit in ATOI (though most of you don't count that) hits, SOG...but im pretty sure 9 out of 10 people who took him at #1 are regretting that one.

Backes & Callahan = most underrated players of the year by far. When you look at all around contributions those 2 are studs.

i've never done fantasy before and i didn't really know how the scoring worked, but i had the last draft position and i drafted mike green (spent months as dtd) with my second pick which was at 13. i had everyone that was bad this year, brad richards (he was my 1st pick, wasn't as good as previous years), carter, markov, booth, yandle, reimer, statsny. i know their were more but these were my busts.

For one of my leagues I had an 8pm draft and decided that I was exhausted that afternoon and took a nap, somehow slept until 8:02 by the time I got my computer on and the draft lobby working I had auto drafted him 3rd. I guess it could have been worse, I ended up winning that league.

I had a couple guys in my main league that I drafted who didn't really turn it on until a month or so in after I had dropped them (alex pietrangelo didn't turn it on until the midway point of the season lol) But I guess that balances out with me picking up james neal in the 12th round and having jordan staal (15th round) absolute go on a tear to start the season.
