Thread: Playoff pool

    Playoff pool

I'm entering into my annual playoff pool, and thought I'd make this thread to get some feedback on picks.

    any 10 forwards, 4 defense, 2 goalies

scoring: assists 1pt, goals 2pts, goalie win 2pts, goalie sho 3pts.

I'm thinking of maybe making 2 entries.

who would be your choices? I'm going hard on the pens and not sure what else I will be doing. This is one squad I have picked so far but not sent in yet...thoughts?

Malkin, Crosby, Neal, Staal, Kunitz, Bergeron, Krejci, Lucic, Kovalchuk, Parise
    Letang, Weber, Suter, Pietrangelo
    Fleury, Rinne
    G=2pts A=1pt
    W=2pts sho=3pts

    Malkin - Crosby - Neal - Kunitz - Staal - Fisher - Legwand - Radulov - Richards - Gaborik
    Letang - Weber - Suter - Pietrangelo
    Fleury - Rinne

    Malkin - Crosby - Neal - Kunitz - Sharp - Toews - Hossa - Kane - Richards - Gaborik
    Letang - Keith - Seabrook - Pietrangelo
    Fleury - Crawford

    Malkin - Crosby - Neal - Kunitz - Datsyuk - Franzen - Zetterberg - Filppula - Richards - Gaborik

Malkin, Crosby, Neal, Staal, Kunitz, Bergeron, Krejci, Lucic, Kovalchuk, Parise
    All east teams.
I think NYR (1), Bos (2), NJ (6) and Pits (4) will advance
    Pits > Nyr
    Bos > NJ
    Pits > Bos

If that happens, you're slowly eliminating your own players.

    Letang, Weber, Suter, Pietrangelo
    Pits Letang, Ok
If you're picking Weber + Suter, why don't you take any of their forwards?
Pietrangelo - why no St Louis fwds?

    Fleury + Rinne
    Pits you covered
    Nsh you sorta did.

If you think Nashville is going to go all the way, why bother w/ Bos/NJ players? I understand taking 1, but 3 and 2?

If you think Pitts + Nash are going to finals, you should stack heavier on Nashville and skip the teams you feel are going to be eliminated.

Bos + NJD could both go in 4 games ... so although they have potential to get you a lot of points while they're in it, there's no guarantee they're going to play more than 4/8 games vs. another team grinding out longer series

thanks for taking the time to reply, da leafers. you make some good points.

im going pit/bos heavy in the east

the west .... i just dont know

van/det/nsh are the 3 i dont know who to choose from

St Louis I dont think has the experience
Chicago's goal tending has been shaky, and so I can see Phx winning.

My personal bias wants it to be Det vs Pits final ... as I'm a wings fan and would love to see the rubber match of those 2 from that last back-to-back finals match-up which was awesome

I think whoever comes out of the first round Nsh vs Det. matchup will win the west.
Chicago can wildcard if Crawford comes up big. the hawks have a lot of talent. (my first fave team. roenick, thomas, amonte, chelios...those were the days haha)
I just can't believe in the Canucks. Sedins and Luongo...don't like any of them.
I'm a leafs fan, and I cheer for the other Canadian teams aside from Montreal and Vancouver. they like to destroy their own cities.
Although when the leafs do eventually get to a cup finals, I wouldn't be surprised to see the CN tower go down

Hmm...When I do these things (which I am), I always make my bracket first. I load up on the two teams I think will make the finals and add some straglers from other the two teams that make the top 4. For my bracket, I am going Pitt / NSH Heavy and lighter on NYR and LA
