Thread: Expect Semin Announcement Soon

I view this as a harmless signing. One-year deal, they needed to spend to the cap floor, and they get a winger who has never scored less than 20 goals in a season where he played at least 60 games.

To me, there is no such thing as an overpayment on a one-year deal that helps you reach the cap floor.

Quoted for truth but I just found I had a physical reaction of revulsion at the idea that Semin is worth seven million. I understand the circumstances but wow !!

Maybe.. but I still think there were better options out there. I would have went for Bobby Ryan for that kind of money.

But then you have to give something up rather than just signing Semin.

Exactly. There is nothing negative to this contract. If he doesn't work out they can just choose to not resign him. If it does they will have a much improved offense and can resign him. Exactly what Mike said about how there's no such thing as an overpayment on one year deals that help a team reach the floor.
