    Surprise Backup Goalie?

Given that the Kings and Canucks have been involved in talks to trade their respective 'backup' goalies (not with each other), it won't surprise you then that both teams would be looking at the market for new backups.

Cristobal Huet has apparently been in talks with both teams. Many of you will remember him in recent years as the goalie that Chicago has been paying $5.6M/year to not play for them.

If Huet signs with the Kings.... where are they shipping Bernier???? I think Vancouver HAS to deal with the Luongo situation sooner than later... and I'm surprised nothing has been done already. That is becoming a cancer on that team.. and as each day goes by seems to get worse. Bernier's situation isn't as bad I don't think.. and to have him as LA's backup again this year would not surprise me. Bernier has expressed wanting a move.. but LA is very reluctant to do so. Teams that may make a move for Bernier or Luongo.... Toronto, Tampa Bay, Washington, San Jose, Pittsburgh, NY Islanders, and New Jersey (this one is obvious to me as after Brodeur.. there is very slim pickings... this will probably be Brodeur's last year... problem is his successor has some pretty big shoes to fill).

Huet has apparently signed a four-year contract in Switzerland. So, no NHL comeback for him.

Pitts has MAF + Vokoun ... don't think they're looking for a 3rd starting goalie.

Poor guy is trying everything he can to win a cup before he retires, even giving up his starting role.
