How Does Your Fantasy Draft Work?

I'm curious to hear how your drafts work. Our league is made up managers that live anywhere from Massachusetts to California. We run our league through Yahoo, but our draft is run outside of Yahoo. In the past, we all jumped on instant messenger and made our picks. Last year, we had a group video chat which worked out great. This year, we're doing the group video chat again, but I've built a 'digital draft board' of sorts where managers will use a web interface to make their selections from drop-down menus and those selections get updated on the draft board at the website. It's all strung together with databases, so players can't be picked twice nor can managers pick out of order, etc. We can even handle trades.

That's a pretty impressive system. We do our draft the "old-school" way, and I absolutely love it. We all get together with cheat sheets, draft boards, and beer on a Saturday afternoon and spend all day having a good time. It's certainly not up with the times, but, for us, it's treated like a holiday and is always the most fun day of the year.

That's my goal someday - to get everyone in our league to fly into the same city and have a draft weekend. Can't imagine anything better for a draft.

Most of my leagues are online live yahoo drafts

I did have one league where we did a draft on the forums of a message board-- we had a few hours per pick and lots of banter and trash talk at the selections
