Thread: Jonathan Toews

Yeah its obviously a smaller league. I feel good about my six keepers. The only other thing i was considering was keeping Howard over Toews. But with my two first round picks im sure i can snatch another stud goalie. Who has the best year ahead of them- Howard, Halak, Rask or Schneider?

I can see Howard's numbers going down with the loss of Lidstrom and Stuart but he and Rask are the only two sure-fire starters right now. Rask has shown to be good in the games that he has played as a backup but his numbers may go down a bit as the starter. However, the Boston team in front of him is still primarily the same defensively stingy team that has allowed him to put up those numbers. Halak may end up winning some starts back from Elliot this year but he could also start out flat like he did last year and come out with a similar split. And until Vancouver finds a new home for Luongo, Schneider is a bit of a gamble for starts.

I noticed you have a lot of Centers that you are planning on keeping. Not all of them are also wing-eligible and it is possibly the deepest position so you could also try to trade one of them in a one for one deal for a second goalie. Or even package two of them with the intention of bringing in a greater overall player and keeping one of your other young players like Benn or Seguin.

What are your goalie stats? If I remember correctly, I saw you use GAA and SV% as your stats. If this is the case, I would definitely keep Rask. Frankly, I'd have Howard at the very end of your list amongst those four goalies--depending on the Canucks G situation.

Another possible option is I could trade either Toews or D Sedin for Ovechkin. Based on my scoring categories, would you trade either for Ovie?

Gotcha, I'd still take Rask over Howard

I think Ovechkin is going to have a bounce back kind of year... so I think that trade would be a good one. I'm not sure who is older.. Sedin or Toews.. but the elder guy I would offer up.. and maybe a draft pick as well since you have 2 in the first round already.
