Thread: Who would you keep?

  1. #1

    Who would you keep?

I can keep 6 players and am having a hard time deciding on my 6. Advice?

    Categories are:
G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, Shots, Hits, Blocks

F- Crosby, Neal, Giroux, Toews, D Sedin, Hartnell, Gaborik, E Staal, Seguin, Benn
    D- Chara, Boyle, Subban, Edler
    G- Lundqvist, Schneider, Luongo, Rask

Ideally i'd like to keep 5 forwards and 1 goalie. Thoughts?

After my 6 keepers I could potentially trade one of my top skaters for a first round draft pick. Who should I trade and cut ties with?

Did you say before that you are in a points league or is this straight head-to-head categories? And what are the rosters sizes and number of managers in your league?

I am in a points league, 8 team and roster size is a total of 25 players.

    The points are as follows:

    G (2pts), A (1pt), +/- (1pt +/-), pim (1pt per 2 min), ppp (2pt), shp (2pts), gwg (3pts), shots hits and blocks (0.1 pts)

    Any input on this?

If it's me, I'm keeping Crosby, Neal, Giroux, Toews, Staal and Lundqvist.

Well it looks like your scoring system is weighted more toward points than peripheral stats so that is what I would focus on. If you want to keep 5 forwards and a goalie, Lundqvist is the obvious goalie keeper. As for skaters, I think you definitely want Sid, Giroux, and Toews.

I think you're last two would be among Sedin, Neal, and Benn. Sedin is a straight scorer and good for PPP but he has hit his peak and may not put up 100 points again. Neal and Benn are both young and good for PIM and hits on top of their scoring. Neal had the edge last year in PPP but Benn might play with Jagr on the powerplay this year so he could post similar numbers. I don't know if there is a definite right answer between the three but if I were to take two, I think I would lean toward Neal and Benn.

I'm not crazy about Seguin from a fantasy perspective because Boston doesn't play a highly offensive system and their powerplay is atrocious. He also has no real peripheral stats to speak of. You could probably swap Eric Staal in as your final keeper is you think he's going to become more than a point-per-game player with his brother and Semin but I don't. I don't think Hartnell's peripherals make up for his points in your scoring system and you're probably right about not keeping any defensemen.

So I guess I would take Lundqvist, Crosby, Giroux, Toews, Neal, and Benn but I think you have options with those final two spots.

The main 2 im trying to decide between are Hartnell and Sedin. Last year Hartnell averaged 3.9 fantasy points per game and Sedin 3.5. So i guess the big questions are does Hartnell have a repeat season and does Sedin have a bounce back year?

Any thoughts on whats the better choice between the two?

Hartnell will continue to post similar PIM and Hits, maybe even maintain his shot totals from last year, but it's tough to say if he will maintain the same number of points. Daniel on the other hand should post at least the same numbers as last year with a good chance of eclipsing them. I'm not sure if Philadephia's powerplay will be as lethal without Jagr so I would lean toward Sedin with your scoring system.
