    Just Finished Drafting

    Center: Backstrom, Getzlaf, Koivu, Henrique
Left Wing: Datsyuk, Hall, Marleau, Perron
Right Wing: Vrbata, Selanne, Cole, Purcell, Havlat, Erat
    Defensemen: Edler, Shattenkirk, OEL, Wideman
Goalie: Quick, Niemi, Luongo, Hiller, Crawford

    10 Teams, Stats - G, A, PPP, GWG, S, +/-, W, SV%, GAA, SO

There's 6 defenseman spots but I went with the best value picks in the last couple of rounds instead of filling out the D spots. I know I have a lot of goalies. I just really don't want to deal with having awful goalies again this year plus I think I can trade some a week or two into the season when people start to panic because they lose their goalie stats in the first week. Actually, I just traded Marleau and Luongo for Malkin so that worked out really well. Any advice on my team?

You got Malkin for Marleau/Luongo? Wow, nice trade for you. I think the only spot that looks troublesome here is RW. But you still have enough firepower in net to pull off an early season G+RW = RW kind of trade.

Completely agree with Mike on the assessment.

Yeah I couldn't believe it either. Every so often you get a no brainer trade come your way that you just have to take. This season has started off nicely for me even if there hasn't been games played yet.

Looks good Tim. Good move to go without 2 D. Why have 6 D if you don't include hits and blocks in stats?

The hits thing is a bit of a misconception. The league top hitters are almost entirely forwards. Forechecking leads to hits much more than just playing in your own corners.

Big hitting wingers are not shot blockers. D men give you both. That was my point.

Sure but forwards contribute more to the scoring stats obviously. So all defenseman are good for is blocks. Maybe SOG for a select few defenseman. But if you're looking at hits, you're obviously better off with a power forward. He might. It get as many blocks, but he'll get goals.

Anyway, I think we agree that he doesn't need more defenseman, we just think so for different reasons. I'd say the stats for a dman are blocks and ATOI.
