Thread: did i choose wisely?

    did i choose wisely?

before i post the rest of my team i'd like to ask this question. i had last pick and quick, rinne, and neal were the highest rated players when it was my turn to pick. i didn't think that either goalie would be available at the 10th spot so i picked quick and then neal thinking i could get ward or niemi or hiller later on. it was my toughest choice in the draft, should i have picked quick and rinne instead.

10 team league, format is in my sig.

While grabbing Quick & Rinne would have probably locked you in for many of the goalie categories, I think it was wise to stick with Quick and a forward. Your skater:goalie category ratio is 2:1 and so grabbing a legit forward early in the draft was crucial.

This would've been a really hard decision for me. I probably would've gone the way you did. It would be tempting to grab both goalies then try and trade one for a top end forward to a team with struggling goalies in the first couple weeks.

    17. (170) Marc Staal

    19. (190) Alex Steen
    (StL - C,LW)
    20. (191) Ryan Ellis
    (Nsh - D)

wisniewski was an accidental pick, i was definitely going to get dubnyk(because i needed another goalie), but i can't remember who i was going to get instead of wis. oh well.

i wanted 4 goalies because i was expecting a shortened and condensed schedule which would give way to more back to back games. i was expecting teams to rest starters more often in those situations so i thought that having a 4th goalie would be better in the long run. was that a good idea?

I grabbed Dubnyk as well. I wanted him because of his great play at the end of the season and with all the talent on that Oilers team they could go from last to first if things work out.

just looked at draft results again, i think i was going to pick ott instead of wisniewski for extra face offs, hits and pims.

That's unfortunate since Ott is a great guy for those stats.

    Agreed

My problem is that he often goes so early that you have to lose out on a good scorer in order to snag Ott
