    Islanders Moving to Brooklyn

    Effective for the 2015-2016 NHL season (and 25 years thereafter!), the New York Islanders will call the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY their new home.

    Not surprised at all by this, honestly the writing was on the wall since last summer. Once the county residents voted against building a stadium because of the increase in property taxes, the Islanders were leaving. Which is ironic because the property taxes will now most likely go up because of the lost revenue from the coliseum.

    I hope the new arena brings fans back to Islanders games even if they only have room for 1,000 more fans than they are currently drawing given the size restrictions. That's about the time their team should be a potent force with Tavares, Okposo, Niederreiter, Hamonic, Strome, etc. all entering or approaching their prime. Good for them.

    Agree-- If this team can get solid goaltending they could push towards the playoffs in the near term
