    Spengler Cup tournament...

So a few thoughts so far after watching 2 of Canada's games.... Seguin is a step ahead of everyone out there! He is flying!!! Tavares is his usual tenacious self... Ryan Smythe has the best work ethic going... Duchene is making plays that are awesome... Bernier looks solid between the pipes... and Dubnyk seems like he's unbeatable!

Patrick Kane still has wheels, but it seems he can't pick the corners... Joe Thornton is getting on in years and has lost a step.. Damien Brunner has some upside but not sold on him just yet as it looks he may need some NHL seasoning.. Loui Eriksson looks stagnent and was relatively invisible until the last 5 minutes of the game today

Anyway, that's what it has looked like so far... Manheim is a really good, defence first type team that Canada will have to solve if they want to win... and it isn't going to be easy.

    GO CANADA GO!!!

It's a weird tournament in a way when you see top flight Canadians playing against. " team Canada. ". I watched the ot loss and it was certainly good hockey.

Yep, it was a bit of a heartbreak to watch Pominville score that goal... at first I thought Bernier misplayed the shot entirely, but on the replay it actually went in off his pad and squeaked by him. Dubnyk on the other hand was calm, cool and solid! That's pretty good if you asked me when he hasn't seen any real game type action other than playing 'shinny' with the boys in Edmonton only to be put on a plane, landed, strapped on the pads, and goes out and gets a shutout in his first game. Impressive.

So with Davos beating Manheim this afternoon, Canada will get a first round bye to the semi final now.. not sure which one they are seeded in but it will be a good game nonetheless. I think Canada has come together as a team fairly quickly.

Great tourney so far. Never watched it, now have watched the first two games and very entertaining. Adler Mannheim has a very good team. I knew as soon as Pominville had a breakaway that it would be a goal.

Watching the Davos/UFA quarter final game... and wow these teams came out to play! Loui Eriksson just scored a beauty of a breakaway goal.. Davos is up for this game. Score is 2-1 right now in the first period for Davos.

Congratulations to Team Canada at winning the Gold/Spengler Cup against Davos. Not really even close as it was 3-0 within the first 4 minutes. Dubnyk another stellar performance, I'll be trying to add him to my hockey pool roster after that tournament. He looked solid right from the start.
