    Work pool -- winged it

    12 teams. Yahoo. H2H.
    Drafted 4th overall.
7 people auto-drafted for most of the draft... 1 person showed up just before 1/2 way.

Usually have PIM + FW and no S categories...
This year swapped PIM+FW for Hits+BlkS and added S for goalies.

Felt really weird not looking at CENTREs over LW/RW positions.

I usually draft a D after the 5th round every few rounds and have 1 on my bench.
This year I did generally the same (1st was in the 7th-Phaneuf) but go #s 4+5 in rounds 18+19 (20 rounds - weaseled Steen in there). I often pride myself having a solid D line-up but this year decided w/ so many people auto-drafting, I'd look at D later in the draft ... I think I tend to pick D a round early but I sometimes set 'the trend' in the draft to pick D.

Not familiar w/ these people in terms of their hockey sense or anything so was going into this blind.

Also went more so for top 6/4 (O/D) players vs. names.

    --------------------------------
I don't think I like having both Thorton AND Marleau .... both have great value but I think I may be better off swapping 1 for another top tier player.

I think Buffalo will be awful, don't care for the team at all and never take Buffalo players ... but was hard to pass Pomminville when he had 20 points more than the next guy (based on last year's stats).
Also ended up grabbing Hodgson to round out all of my forward spots. top line centre ... can't argue that.

Whitney I hope continues his normal 60ish pt pace (/82 games) w/ Dallas. Certainly a lot more offensive power there than in Phx - IMO.

Ryder I'm surprised was still around at this point ...

but unlike Thorton/Marleau, Ryder/Whitney and Pomm/Hodgson are not top tier players so I think they'll produce more than what I could potentially trade one (or both) for.

Purcell I'm hoping repeats his previous 2 seaons.

Jokinen is on a top line ... hopefully the NHL under estimates them and Jokinen performs like last year.
    --------------------------------
Phaneuf was a nice pick-up as Letang, Karlsson, Weber, etc went around 3-5... and as a Leafs fan, I needed somebody on my team w/ value (... have 'em in my other league too :P)

McDonagh was a risky pick and hoping it pays off ... worst case, can swap 'em early for another D FA (Salo maybe? Short season ... less games to get injured in, haha)

Ryan Ellis - was debating if he'd move up and replace Josi as Weber's D partner ... worst case, #1 PP D pair and #2 reg D pair.

Filip Kuba - had a good season in Ottawa ... now hoping he can replicate that in FLA (and hoping FLA starts the season the same as last year)

Finally, Robidas. Older player who's been around ... hopefully a solid top6 can bring his point totals back up.
    --------------------------------

So many players on this team that I never really thought I'd draft

    Wha'cha feelin about this team?

Funny how you say you winged it with not one Red Wings player on your team (joke). I think this is an ok team. Offensive categories may hurt a bit.
