Burns day to day-- any updates?

I have Burns and the only updates I can find is a somewhat crytpic quote from his coach that seemed to say he might be day to day for a while. I like his upside far better than anything I can take from the waiver wire BUT if he is going to miss a couple of weeks I would risk the drop. Anyone know anything ?

Burns, who drew leaguewide attention with a team mug shot with wild hair and an extremely bushy beard, has not been available for several days and even then declined to talk about his situation.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound defenseman is considered one of the mainstays on San Jose's blue line. He underwent sports hernia surgery in May, was declared healthy by the team on Oct. 9 and skated during the final days of the lockout. He has not been seen on the ice since camp opened.

Brent Burns took part in 81 games last season and all five of the San Jose Sharks playoff contests despite the fact that he was suffering through a groin injury and sports hernia in the second half of the year.

“We didn’t really know what it was, found it, found out and tried to fix it,” Burns said in a CSN Bay Area report.

The 27-year-old defenseman had surgery in May and was medically cleared on Oct. 9, but that might not be the end of the story.

He was only on the ice with his locked-out teammates for 20 minutes on Friday and when asked if he’d be available for the season opener if it takes place on Jan. 19, Burns dodged the question.

“I don’t know if you’re going to get a comment on that one. I’m going to plead the fifth on that one,” Burns said

At least I am not the only one who had multiple same post disorder today. I rebooted and things seemed to work fine after that.

He's listed as doubtful for tonight, so that looks optimistic for a return pretty soon.

I think Burns has a good upside, at least better than Kuba and maybe Hamhuis, so I took him and stored him on the IR. Dumping Hagelin to make a spot for him may ultimately prove a poor decision, but if ya wanna make an omelet, ya gotta break a few eggs. Besides, I have a ton of multi-position forwards, and it's worth the gamble.

    Fri, Feb 8, From Yahoo!/RotoWire:

Burns (lower body) could play as early as Saturday, but will play "very soon" according to coach Todd McLellan, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Recommendation: Burns wasn't expected to return to the lineup for at least another week, but looks to be ahead of schedule. Burns practiced today alongside Brad Stuart, so he would likely be placed on the team's top defensive pair. If he doesn't play Saturday, he would most likely return Monday when the Sharks face the Blue Jackets.
