Trade - J. Schultz and Drew Doughty

    So,

I was just offered a trade in a keeper league.

I was offered Teddy Purcell and Drew Doughty + 14th round pick

    for

Artem Anisimov and Justin Schultz + 13th round pick

This is a 12 team keeper league and we keep10 year to year

Stats are: G, A, P, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, SOG

Wondering if I should even consider this, I love Schultz's potential, love Doughty but LA has problems scoring. Should I:

    1. Take the offer
    2. Counter for more
    3. Reject and keep Schultz

I love the upside Schultz has. I wouldn't be able to part with him myself right now.

My $0.02: I'm in two pools where I've been building towards success with prospects. Moderate success so far. I find it hard to cut bait on prospects sometimes.

Doughty + Purcell give you a greater chance to win now and in next couple years. Schultz has great upside, with a talented team... hard to trade him I bet.

I'd try to upgrade my pick, but otherwise I'm happy making that deal.

    Difficult, very difficult.

I think you're right in looking at Schultz' potential given that's it's a scoring league (practically a points league if you ignore PIMs) as I think he'll outperform Doughty most seasons going forward (maybe even this one seeing as Doughty has actually scored less each year). Purcell is also on the up and should easily outperform Anisimov going forward; I'd rate Purcell as 55+ points with Anisimov 45+ on current projections but obviously dropping a round in the draft could hurt.

I would take this trade only under a couple of conditions:
    1) You are looking at making a real push at winning the league this year or next
    2) You think Doughty will get back to his 09/10 form this year or next
    3) You are struggling with keepers so much that Anisimov is comfortably in your 10 keeper list

D - Shattenkirk, Timonen, Yandle, Hedman, Hamonic
G - Quick, Backstrom, Vokoun, Fasth

I agree. As long as your league does not favor hits and blocked shot type dmen and favors offensive types like Schultz, I'd keep Schultz-- just think of that Powerplay in 2 years time... IMO Schultz> Doughty which may seem ridiculous after 3 games but I have watched all 3 Oiler games and this kid is for real offensively. There was areson there was so my much buzz around him this offseason.

Oppositions have learned to key on Doughty on the PP and I see his offensive upside being blunted by Sutter's coaching style.

The Purcell/Anisimov side of things would not play into my decision at all. Keep Schultz and enjoy the ride for many years to come.

Maybe look again. Purcell went 24G 41A last year, and even more importantly popped 19 PPP's. True, he's not big on physical numbers like hits & blocks, but he contributes a lot in scoring categories, and he's off to a decent start again. Anisimov on the other hand, scored 34 points last year, but he's not a NYR any more - he's in the nether reaches of Columbus. Purcell is a significant scoring upgrade right now vis-a-vis Anisimov.
