Guys are going down like flies this year. Seems like there are more injuries than ever or is that just me? I think guys going in cold (short training camp and no preseason games) might have something to do with this.

Obviously Pacioretty's injury is not "short season type" but it does seem like Tim is on to something. A scan of the news feed shows about 6 strains which could well be put down to lack of conditioning and with the number of lazy fouls being made (e.g. last night's Flyers - Panthers game) a couple more could come down to sluggish play.
Of course, this is something that is incredibly difficult to analyse because it relies not just on the result but also the action and interpretation.
