Thread: Neal for Weber?

    Neal for Weber?

Hey is this a reasonable trade?

    J. Neal (PIT) (LW) for S. Weber (NSH) (D)? (I'd give up Neal).

H2H league, tracking G, A, +/-, PIM, HITS, SOG, PPP, SHP. (and then W, GAA, S%, SO for goalies).

I'm pretty decent in terms of forwards, but am only carrying TWO D (out of a potential 5), because I'm using 4 goalies. (I missed the draft, ended up auto-drafting no good goalies, so I've picked up: Rask, Schneider, Khabibulin, and Markstrom.)

The D that I have are M. Green and J. Wisniewski, one more elite D-man, especially one that has lots of HITS would be good.

Neal is really hot right now, and Weber is off to a slow start, so I figure I'd be able to make this trade while Neal's value is really high. Or do you think Neal can continue this pace, and I should stick with him?

With your lack of D and Neal's torrid start, I'd say this is a good offer to pitch. Even better if he accepts.

My fear is that Neal may be a player that joins the elite level of scorers and is NOT just an early season flash in the pan. I don't know if people arwe certain yet what he will be.

Weber? My elite D-man-- I have managed to get him in all 3 of my leagues-- He isn't yet scoring as I hoped but I am confident he will come around

personally I would see if the owner of Weber had an appetite for someone that was not quite as strong as Neal

Neal's career SH% is 13%. This season, to date, he's at the 18% level.

Weber is wicked valuable in my league because of ice time a good PM hits and blocks. But I agree with flubber...I don't see Neal's stats going down anytime soon. Sure he's bound to slow up a bit but with a healthy Malkin and possibly Sid. Think about it like this: he's the focal point for defenses right now and he's going ballistic. What happens when defenses have to respect Sid and Malkin?

I look at it the other way..once Sid and Malkin are all the way back, he won't have the puck on his stick as much. I still think he's going to have a nice 30-30 year, maybe even work his way up to 65-70 points, but I'd go with Weber.

I have Neal and he's NOT going anywhere, not for anyone. I believe he is at that Elite level and is there to stay. This guy is such a graceful skater, you can always tell he's on the ice. He plays such great positioning too, his ice presence is phenominal. He'll get 40-45 goals this year and ton of assists. He'll reach 85 pts. - I'm sure of it. Keep Neal, but Weber is no one you want to shake a stick at either. Tough trade, but I'd lean on keeping Neal.

I think I feel much the same way-- I think I was really influenced when they came through town here and I saw neal in person-- He was very impressive-- sometimes I think those in-person impressions really stick with me

I mean, no need to go into incredible amounts of detail in response to this, however, I could not disagree more. Malkin is back, Crosby is close. Who was the last third option in the NHL to score 85 points?

Kesler was awfully close last year I believe. I'd have to look at tampa's stats to see after St. Louis and Stamkos. Ribeiro on Dallas was very close. But point taken...doesn't happen often if at all. Neal though...I'd wager he'll have a decent shot.
