I'm also trying to figure something out about the original posters team. How in the hell does one have Crosby, BOTH Sedin's, Chara, Carter, Rinne, Quick and Niemi? 4 of those guys went top 12 in my draft. The other 4 were gone before the third round at the latest. What kind of league is this???

The league started with 10 teams, snaking draft and I drafted 5th (then 16th,25th,36,etc).
Here's my first few rounds in order.
H. Sedin, J. Iginla, A. Niemi, J. Carter, Z. Chara, J. Quick, S. Crosby.

Following the draft, I picked Zajac off of waivers, packaged him with Iginla and Dubnyk and traded for Rinne (obviously this was before khabibulin's hot streak, which has made dubnyk pretty irrelevant since). So that's how I got Rinne.

When a team dropped out the league looked for a replacement and couldn't find one, so we decided to put his players onto waivers in groups for bidding (Waivers use acquisition budgets of $5000, with waiver priority being last place gets first priority,etc. 19 players over 6 days, so about 3/day). One of them was D. Sedin. I was currently in 2nd place and didn't want 1st place to bid their entire acquisition budget to get daniel, so I put in a bid equal to his remaining amount (he had used $300 earlier in the season). I had anticipated that a struggling team would bid their full $5000 compared to my $4700, but I bid just to make sure 1st place team didn't get him... and I wound up winning the auction for Sedin. So pair him with Henrik in the 1st round, and that's how I got both.

Because Carter and Crosby are both anticipated to get off IR soon, I needed to clear some spots out for them. My first choice to drop had been Seguin, so I thought I would get value out of him while I could. So Streit moves into my roster, bumping either Pietrangelo or Quincey to my last defenseman, meaning I can drop one of them, while improving D. Despite JVR's upside, I like the guarantee of Ryan (playing alongside Getzlaf and Perry makes it pretty hard not to put up good numbers).

If this was a keeper league, I never would have touched this trade, though. I think this IS a win/win, but I just feel like Ryan/Streit could have gotten a better set of players than Seguin/JVR.

Well, your explanation makes sense based on your needs as well as where you are in your pool. Sounds like you have been analyzing this for some time and I hope it all works out for you. Good Luck - Your team is very solid and I wish I had it that's for sure. LOL

Not only that but Chara in the 5th round and Quick in the 6th. I'd love to see the draft results of this particular league. And understand that is NOT negative towards BZoods he took advantage of what was available and you can't fault the guy. With that team I dont see how you'll EVER lose lol

A couple of teams were on auto draft, which explains a little of it, but my friends were all very reluctant of crosby, so they didn'twant to touch him until later, add that to his rank being in the 200s, and he just got overlooked. I'll try to find a way to post the draft results later for you all to see.

Let me put it this way. At least 5 guys you have right now were off my board in the first 15 picks. Sedins off the board in the top 6 overall (BOTH).

Like I said you took advantage of the situation more power to you. That's a dream team if I've ever seen one. I honestly have no idea how you could really ever lose.
